One of my favorite pictures in the scriptures is unveiled in the Passion translation, where it is written, “The entire universe is standing on tiptoe, yearning to see the unveiling of God’s glorious sons and daughters. (Romans: 8:19)
We were created as sons and daughters first, not sinners. Are you living from your rightful place in the family of God as sons and daughters who are experiencing the affection of a really good father who thinks you are very good?
For many of us, we have never recovered from the lie of the garden. We have been held hostage and told we are not good enough and must do something to present ourselves as acceptable to God.
But now, with eager expectation, all creation longs for freedom from its slavery to decay and to experience with us the incredible freedom coming to God’s children. (Romans 8:20-21) That we are good enough, actually He declared us very good! (Gen 1:31)
My new friend and author, Pete Scheller, encourages us to reconsider our place in the family of God as sons and daughters in his book, Dancing with Wisdom. He states that for too long the image and understanding of God, the One Jesus called “Abba,” has been hidden from view or distorted beyond recognition. The unspoken cry of sons and daughters all over the world is, “Give us our Dad back!”
